Ocular ecography

In order to examine in depth the structures of the posterior segment of the eye (vitreous humor, retina, etc.), an ultrasound scanner is used. Thus we can diagnose possible retinal detachments, condensations of the vitreous humor or other lesions located in the innermost areas of the eyeball.

The test is exactly the same as any other type of ultrasound, for example the abdominal one, but it is done with an ultrasound adapted to the dimensions of the eye. It is done with the eyelid closed. On it is placed a gel that transmits the ultrasound of the probe and in a few minutes we obtain the images of the entire eyeball.
